Hello to all you lovely people in the Earth Pathways Diary community. I haven’t checked in for a while so I thought I’d take five minutes to update you on my latest adventures since the tall people are busy working on their different projects and haven’t shared any eco-news here for a while (actually, I don’t really know what my Mummy does all day – I think she must sit reading her book and filing her nails. Her pace is S..L..O..W.. and there’s a lot of wafting and sighing going on, but absolutely nothing to compare with my 100-mile-an-hour crawling/climbing/’hanging on to the furniture to navigate around the room’ antics). Anyway, Mummy’s semi-catatonic state has given me the opportunity to hack in to her computer (apparently everyone’s at it) and negotiate my way round a couple of blogs – this one included – to post my own perspectives of the world for everyone to see! Bigger picture
November 12, 2010 by JaineAn exciting and challenging week for the Earth Pathways team – we are gathered at my house in Stroud for our big meet. A chance to catch up, fizz ideas together, brainstorm and share the most delicious food.
Normally we are scattered between Essex, Kent, West Wales, Northumberland, Derbyshire and Wiltshire – each of us beavering away doing our different jobs, pinging emails back and forth – sometimes frantic, sometimes hilarious, often supportive and sisterly. I love these wild women, and it is the most vibrant of times when they upsticks and journey all the way to Stroud to visit.
It is often the small details of the diary that make my heart beat faster – a piece of artwork with a secret story, writing that changes pathways, an email from a reader singing encouragement and gratitude. But it is the bigger picture that inspires – as we start off our 2012 edition we are filled with bubbling up hope and creativity, a sprinkle of naughtiness, and the lovely feeling of having already produced three diaries so far, that people have told us they love.
I am ending a full, heartfelt and chocolate fuelled day with a group of women who always amaze me with their energy, truthfulness and an enormous will to carry on…..so watch this space….here comes the 2012, and the Seed Fund (more of that another time), and who knows what other delicious things……
and all under the Chandalier of All Loveliness. Perfect.

My Love, the Elder….
October 20, 2010 by JaineHi all you lovely fans of the Earth pathways Diary….. glennie here
This week I have been busy trying to decide what submissions to send in for the 2012 Diary…. All of the Earth Pathways team submit their own work for the great voting process just the same as everyone else…… (Submissions need to be with Jaine by the 31st October so the count down is on!)But there are so many possibilities, from photos, to writing about the many things that move me, delight me, and inspire me…… I have songs and poems and pieces of artwork…….. I wonder what to choose…… only 5 too! However can I decide?Recently I have had a love affair with the Elder Tree and everyday I sang to the Elder trees while gathering baskets filled with gorgeous ripe plump Elderberries. These all have to be plucked from the stems. The recipe books say with a fork but I love to do it with my hands, feeling the soft fullness of each berry, sending my Love and thanks to bless them most royally. For days my fingers were stained a deep rich purpley red that made me very happy – I don’t know why!! Elderberries are renown for throwing off colds in the winter and boosting the immune system. I made many jars of Elderberry tincture, a wonderful dark rich Elderberry syrup and 2 gallons of Elderberry wine which is gently plopping away on my table.I took photos of the makings and may decide to submit these, along with recipes
Here is a photo of the lovely red stalks after I’d picked the Elderberries offAnd one of the brew boiling up to make the wine
And this, the mush after I had made the syrup……..And jars of syrup. This is supposed for be for my granddaughter, Evie Rose, (who is 3), as we can’t give her the tincture because of the alcohol, but it is so delicious that my 18 year old daughter May and I keep having a naughty swig…. Good job I made lots! And it will keep our immune systems boosted up nicely!Category: Contribute, DiaryTags: festival gathering, glennie | Comments (0)

Up in my artshed…..
October 13, 2010 by JaineYou know, I suddenly thought it might be fun to show you where your Submissions land up when you trustingly send them in the post to us! (that’s when the naughty goblin of post office land doesn’t misdirect them to Iceland or somewhere else inaccessible). Well, they come to me here, at Rowan Tree – our postman is lovely, and if I am out and its raining, will pop them in the greenhouse for safekeeping, where they chat happily with the tomatoes until I return…..hmmmm! You can tell I spend an awful lot of time at home alone.
Then they end up in my little artshed, in the corner of our small garden, and this is where it all begins! Debs, our database Diva, puts them all on file and onto c.d’s. You will meet her sometime, I will get her to send a picture of her and the very lovely Harry (normally seen bouncing on her hip). Eventually all of the Earth Pathways team meet up in December – they come to me in Stroud and bring delicious food and plenty of chocolate. We all squeeze in to our house, and have a very wonderful time looking through what you’ve sent……what a great job!Thank you everyone, for so generously sending us your art, writing, photos, and poetry – it is so so appreciated! If you havn’t sent us anything, and would like to – there’s still time – click on the Contribute button at the top of this page!

Get your contributions in now!
September 29, 2010 by Debs
The deadline for contributions to be considered for the Earth Pathways Diary 2012 is the end of October 2010. We have to pick work this early as the diary needs to be in production a
good year before it will actually be used. The team of art work/written work selectors gather together during the winter months to view all submissions and pick items for the new diary. So if you feel you have a piece of work that would compliment the wonderfully high standard of images and writing that have become the trademark of the Earth Pathways Diary please check out the submissions page of our website.Category: ContributeComments (0)
